Chang Gao
PhD Candidate in Economics
I am a 4-year PhD Candidate at the Department of Economics, University of Oklahoma. My research interest is on the intersection of housing market, macroeconomics and household wealth, I have been trying to understand the housing boom (and now, the collapse) of China for a long time.
Research
I study the mechanisms of China's housing market boom and collapse, focusing on their relationship to local government infrastructure debt-financing and real estate developer expansion. I am also interested in how housing cycles affect household wealth and welfare.
